Meet our team
As the Founder of Commplicated, Hailey’s focus is on helping technical founders articulate their visions and achieve critical business and funding milestones. Her work draws on expertise in fractional CMO services, business advisory, and strategic branding, tailored to early-stage startups in the deep tech space.
Alongside Commplicated, Hailey is an active angel investor focused on early-stage deep tech startups. She also serves as a Venture Scout at Ada Ventures and provides mentorship and advisory support to founders through Founders at the University of Cambridge and Deeptech Labs.
Hailey began her career at the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, a $485 million fund specialising in biotechnology, clean energy, and deep tech, with a portfolio that included SpaceX. She went on to lead communications and branding at MassChallenge, the world’s largest startup accelerator, working across four continents, before joining a pre-seed deep tech startup in-house and supporting its growth to 50 employees and tens of millions in funding raised.
Catherine is a Portfolio Director at Commplicated, working with deep tech startups to help them reach their next business and funding milestones.
Catherine most recently worked at a neurotech startup applying AI and neural data to develop a new class of precision medicine, where she led the company’s cardiovascular therapy programme and supported the communication of clinical trial results to a range of stakeholders. She also brings extensive experience managing UK and US government backed, SME led research projects. She holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of East Anglia and an MA from the University of Cambridge.
Robert is Partner and Creative Director at Commplicated.Design. He co-founded HEAVY in 2015 as a specialised design studio, which joined Commplicated in 2025 to bring design, communications, and storytelling together under one roof.
With over a decade of experience in the creative industry, Robert has worked with leading agencies and ambitious clients to create lasting brand work, and his work has been recognised by industry bodies including D&AD, Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, and the Danish Design Award.
Phong is Partner and Creative Director at Commplicated.Design. Phong works across strategy, design, and implementation, helping deep tech founders translate complex ideas into clear, functional, and long lasting brands.
Phong co-founded HEAVY in 2015, which evolved into a design studio focused on technology driven organisations before becoming Commplicated.Design in 2025. Today, he works closely with deep tech teams across Europe to build brands that are credible, coherent, and built to last.
Paul is a Portfolio Director, leading strategic communications for early-stage deep tech startups, with a focus on messaging and fundraising. He works closely with founders and technical teams to help clearly communicate their value and reach key business and funding milestones.
Paul has over a decade of experience in B2B tech comms, including at specialist agencies Ballou and Seven Hills BPI. He has advised businesses from days-old startups through to publicly listed tech companies, running campaigns in Europe, North America and APAC. He has recently completed a venture capital programme at Imperial College London, and holds a BA in Classics from the University of Bristol.
